Bryan is no stranger to reading and has been reading since a very young age and he is a big fan of reading albeit a bit of a casual reader. He has been reading since he can remember and had a high school reading level by Fourth grade, continuing to grow ever since. He likes to read in his free time and has ever He was inspired to read at a young age with the American Chiller and Michigan Chiller book series by Jonathan Rand and has liked books ever since. Reading a book from start to finish can be difficult for Bryan sometimes but he usually pushes through and finishes them, knowing he's better off for it. Although Bryan doesn't read full novels everyday he loves to read all sorts of things including news articles, short stories, plot summaries, movie reviews, and informational articles. Bryan likes to challenge himself in his reading usually with either a heavy topic or a challenging book but he also likes to take it easy sometimes and just read something easy and entertaining. Bryan is not currently reading a book but he's open to finding a new one. He only read one and a half books this summer and about five last year. During the summer he read Obasan and half of the Book Thief. Bryan wasn't quick to read Obasan but as soon as he started reading it he couldn't put it down. His favorite author is Kevin Brooks, the author of the Bunker Diary, Bryan's favorite book. He estimates he has over one hundred books in his house between his family and himself. As a reader, Bryan likes to read and he is good at it. The only catch really is that he doesn't like to be forced to read books unless he chooses them himself. He is working to get over that and is trying to be more open to all books, which is one way he's grown as a writer over the years. He likes to read more and more different genre's every year and would love to continue to grow as a reader into adulthood.
As well as reading Bryan loves to write creatively and loves to create stories. Bryan learned to write at an early age through his parents and his school system over the course of many years. He thinks people write for infinite reasons, including venting, to spread information, to share experiences, to entertain, to have fun, or because they have to for school or a job. He believes that there are two types of good writing. There's good writing from a technical standpoint involving grammar, structure, and substance with well rounded characters, setting, and plot. But there is also good writing from a persona standpoint such as something you wrote yourself or something that one can connect with no matter the technical side of writing. Bryan likes to write short stories of any genre and but mainly loves to write using prompts using either a prompt or a past experience to write. Bryan likes any sort of constructive criticism as long as it is constructive. He doesn't write at home to often but every once in a while he likes to pick up paper and a pencil or a laptop and write a little short story about what's in his head. At the end of the day he appreciates his writing and loves to express his ideas and imagination through his writing.
